Direct Answer

The best golf communities in Los Cabos each serve a different kind of buyer: Puerto Los Cabos and Cabo del Sol for desert-meets-ocean variety, Palmilla and Querencia for established luxury and privacy, Chileno Bay and Quivira for resort-level beach living, Diamante and Rancho San Lucas for Pacific-side dune golf, and Cabo San Lucas Country Club for outstanding value close to town. Los Cabos now has 18 golf courses open and at least 5 more underway, four of them ranked among Golf Digest’s World 100 Greatest — there is no single “best” community, only the one that matches how you actually want to live.

After playing many of the region’s most celebrated courses — including Puerto Los Cabos, Palmilla, Cabo del Sol, Querencia, Quivira, Diamante, Cabo San Lucas Country Club, Chileno Bay, and Rancho San Lucas — I can honestly say that what makes Los Cabos golf real estate extraordinary goes far beyond the game itself. One of my favorite moments isn’t hitting the perfect drive; it’s finishing eighteen holes, having lunch overlooking the Sea of Cortez, and watching families gather around the pool while kids ride bikes through beautifully landscaped streets. These communities are designed for living well, not just for golf.

Why These Communities Are About More Than Golf

Every course in Los Cabos tells a different story, and every community built around it has its own personality. Seeing friends meet for dinner after a round, couples walking their dogs at sunset, and neighbors greeting one another by name reminds me that these gated communities are designed for much more than golf — they’re designed for living well. Here are my personal, on-the-ground impressions of the nine communities I play and show the most.

Why International Championship Golf Adds Real Value

This isn’t municipal golf. Los Cabos golf real estate is built around courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tom Fazio, Tiger Woods, Tom Weiskopf and Davis Love III — the same architects behind the world’s most recognized clubs. That caliber matters for buyers: four Los Cabos layouts (Diamante’s Dunes Course, the Cove Club at Cabo del Sol, Quivira Golf Club, and Querencia) currently rank among Golf Digest’s “World 100 Greatest Golf Courses,” and Solmar Golf Links at Rancho San Lucas was named Latin America’s Best Golf Course by the World Golf Awards in 2025.

A widely cited 2017 study of more than 10,000 real estate transactions found that proximity to a golf course lifted property values by 8 to 12% — and in Los Cabos, where courses double as ocean-view corridors and permanent green space, that premium tends to compound. It’s also why nearly every established community keeps investing in new golf: Diamante is opening the Tiger Woods-designed Legacy Club by late 2026, Querencia is debuting its second Tom Fazio course (Campo Alto), Rancho San Lucas is adding the Ernie Els-designed Oleada Golf Links, Chileno Bay is building a second Fazio 18, and Palmilla just introduced El Once, a new Agustín Pizá course at Palmilla Reserve. Each new course tends to unlock a fresh wave of homesites at higher price points — which is exactly why buyers who move early in a golf community’s life cycle often see the strongest appreciation.

Puerto Los Cabos

Puerto Los Cabos golf real estate

One of the things I enjoy most about Puerto Los Cabos golf real estate is how beautifully it blends desert, ocean, and marina living. Every round feels different, with incredible scenery and spectacular Sea of Cortez views across its 27 holes designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman. This community is perfect for buyers looking for a relaxed coastal lifestyle with plenty of room to grow, whether as a primary residence, vacation home, or investment property. For the full breakdown of its five neighborhoods, from Fundadores to Zadún, I’ve written a dedicated guide: Puerto Los Cabos Real Estate →

Palmilla

Palmilla golf real estate Los Cabos

Palmilla has a timeless elegance that never goes out of style. Home to the first Jack Nicklaus-designed course in Latin America (1992) and the legendary One&Only Palmilla resort, its mature landscaping, ocean views, and impeccable service create an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming. The community is now in the middle of a $400 million transformation, Palmilla Reserve, which adds a new SIRO wellness hotel and El Once, an 11-hole Agustín Pizá-designed course, alongside custom homesites and residences. It’s ideal for buyers seeking an established luxury address with a rich history and one of the most recognizable names in Los Cabos.

Querencia

Querencia golf real estate Los Cabos

Querencia has always impressed me with its sense of community. The atmosphere feels warm, private, and family-oriented, making it much more than an exclusive golf club — it truly feels like a neighborhood where lifelong friendships are created. Its original Tom Fazio course, ranked among Golf Digest’s World 100, is being joined in late 2026 by Campo Alto, Fazio’s second 18 at Querencia, alongside 54 new ridgeline homesites in La Cresta and a newly opened Beach Club. I often recommend Querencia to buyers who value privacy, wellness, and a strong sense of belonging.

Chileno Bay

Chileno Bay golf real estate Los Cabos

Every visit to Chileno Bay feels like stepping into one of the world’s finest private resorts. The architecture, the personalized service, the protected swimmable cove, and the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and relaxed. Developed by Discovery Land Company around two Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole courses (the second currently under construction), Chileno Bay pairs its private club with the Auberge-managed resort and residences. It’s ideal for buyers seeking exceptional luxury, wellness, and one of the most exclusive beachfront lifestyles available in Los Cabos.

Cabo del Sol

Cabo del Sol golf real estate Los Cabos

Cabo del Sol offers one of my favorite combinations of championship golf and ocean scenery. The Jack Nicklaus-designed Cove Club (formerly the Ocean Course) is ranked among Golf Digest’s World 100, alongside the Tom Weiskopf-designed Cabo del Sol Course. Every visit reminds me why this 1,800-acre community continues to attract buyers from around the world, especially with the Four Seasons and Park Hyatt anchoring its resort side. It’s an excellent choice for those who want luxury living with easy access to both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo while enjoying an active outdoor lifestyle.

Cabo San Lucas Country Club

Cabo San Lucas Country Club golf real estate

This community holds a very special place in my heart because it’s home. Living here allows me to wake up to golf course views on Los Cabos’ first-ever golf course (1994, Roy & Matt Dye, renovated by Agustín Pizá) while being just minutes from downtown Cabo San Lucas, swimmable beaches, the marina, restaurants, shopping, and schools. For buyers looking for outstanding value, central location, and an established golf community, Cabo San Lucas Country Club is truly one of Los Cabos’ hidden gems — I go into much more depth in my dedicated guide: Cabo San Lucas Country Club Real Estate →

Quivira

Quivira golf real estate Los Cabos

Playing Quivira is simply unforgettable. The dramatic cliffs, crashing Pacific waves, and breathtaking scenery make every round an experience you’ll remember long after the scorecard is put away. Its Jack Nicklaus Signature course opened in 2014 and is already ranked among Golf Digest’s World 100, with a second Nicklaus course now under construction. Beyond the golf, Quivira offers an incredible resort lifestyle with private beach clubs, wellness amenities, and access to one of the most spectacular Pacific coastlines in Baja California Sur. It’s perfect for buyers who appreciate dramatic oceanfront living and world-class resort amenities.

Diamante

Diamante golf real estate Cabo San Lucas

Diamante offers a golf experience unlike any other in Los Cabos. Surrounded by towering sand dunes and the Pacific Ocean, the Davis Love III-designed Dunes Course — ranked #1 in Mexico and among Golf Digest’s World 100 — provides a spectacular setting where every round feels memorable, alongside Tiger Woods’ El Cardonal and the forthcoming Legacy Club. Beyond the fairways, Diamante has become one of Los Cabos’ most desirable luxury communities, with resort-style pools, wellness facilities, and a vibrant social atmosphere. I go much deeper on pricing and sub-developments in my full guide: Diamante Cabo San Lucas Real Estate →

Rancho San Lucas (Solmar)

Rancho San Lucas Solmar golf real estate Los Cabos

Rancho San Lucas offers a fresh, contemporary lifestyle with modern architecture, beautiful ocean and desert views, and a welcoming atmosphere. Its Greg Norman-designed Solmar Golf Links was named Latin America’s Best Golf Course by the World Golf Awards in 2025, and the community is about to add a second course, the Ernie Els-designed Oleada Golf Links, opening in 2026. I love how it appeals to younger families, professionals, and buyers looking for a newer community with today’s amenities while remaining close to everything Los Cabos has to offer.

Los Cabos golf real estate is consistently one of the most resilient luxury segments in Mexico — tourism now contributes roughly $7.7 billion a year to the regional economy, according to the Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA), and golf-anchored communities capture an outsized share of that demand. Baja Smart Real Estate offers on-the-ground access to all nine of these communities, from entry-level golf condos to ultra-luxury branded residences.

Finding the Right Community

One question I’m often asked is, “Which golf community is the best?” My answer is always the same: there isn’t one “best” community. There is only the one that’s best for you. Every buyer has different priorities — some dream of ocean views, others value privacy, family amenities, investment potential, walkability, or easy access to town. That’s why I believe choosing a home should never be based solely on the golf course. It should be based on the life you want to live.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q What are the best golf communities to buy in Los Cabos?

It depends on your priorities. Puerto Los Cabos and Cabo del Sol offer variety and value; Palmilla and Querencia deliver established luxury and privacy; Chileno Bay and Quivira offer resort-level beach living; Diamante and Rancho San Lucas provide Pacific-side dune golf; and Cabo San Lucas Country Club offers the best relative value close to downtown.

Q Does living near a golf course increase property value in Los Cabos?

Generally, yes. A widely cited study of over 10,000 real estate transactions found golf-course proximity boosted property values by 8 to 12%, and in Los Cabos that effect is reinforced by the international caliber of the courses themselves — four are currently ranked among Golf Digest’s World 100 Greatest Golf Courses.

Q Which Los Cabos golf community is best for families?

Querencia and Rancho San Lucas are especially family-oriented, with pickleball, kids’ clubs, trail systems and family-focused clubhouses, while Puerto Los Cabos and Cabo del Sol offer a relaxed coastal lifestyle with room to grow.

Q Is golf real estate a good investment in Los Cabos?

Golf communities in Los Cabos benefit from limited land, gated infrastructure, and a tourism economy contributing an estimated $7.7 billion annually to the region. Nearly every established community continues to add new courses and homesites, which historically has supported strong long-term appreciation.

Q How many golf courses are there in Los Cabos?

Los Cabos currently has 18 golf courses open, with at least 5 more underway or announced, bringing the total toward 23 — designed by architects including Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tom Fazio, Tiger Woods, Tom Weiskopf and Davis Love III.

Q Do I need to be a golfer to buy in a Los Cabos golf community?

Not at all. Most of these communities are built around family amenities, private beach clubs, wellness centers and dining as much as golf — many residents I know rarely play but love the gated security, landscaping, and lifestyle that golf-anchored master plans provide.

Not Sure Which Golf Community Fits You?

I’ve played all nine of these communities and helped buyers settle into each one. Tell me what matters most — ocean views, privacy, family amenities, or investment potential — and I’ll help you narrow it down.
